Collegiate Level Teaching
In the field of music education at the collegiate level, teaching goes beyond simply imparting technical skills or theoretical knowledge; it aims to inspire students to think critically about music, its cultural significance, and its role in society. Professors in this discipline serve as mentors who not only guide students through the complexities of music theory, history, and performance but also encourage creative exploration and independent musical expression. Effective music education requires a balance of structured learning and hands-on experiences, enabling students to refine their craft while developing a deeper understanding of music’s transformative power. Whether through ensemble work, solo performance, or scholarly research, the goal is to foster both artistic and intellectual growth, equipping students with the tools to excel in diverse music-related careers.
My Story
I spent over 17 years of experience in K-12 education, where I developed a strong foundation in teaching and student development. Additionally, I have spent 5 years as an adjunct professor, honing my skills in higher education before transitioning into a full-time professorship for the past 3 years. Throughout my career, I have demonstrated a commitment to fostering academic growth and providing engaging, student-centered learning experiences in both K-12 and collegiate settings.
